Capitol City Announces 2014 Season Audition Dates
CCOC Artistic Director Michael Nutter has announced that the company will hold auditions for its 2014 season on the evenings of Monday - Wednesday, Dec. 2 - 4 between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., and on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Online registration opened at 12 noon Monday, Nov. 11. Interested singers may register by going to http://capitolcityopera.simplybook.me/index/about .
The evening auditions will be held at The Church of the Atonement, 4945 High Point Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, 30342. The Saturday session will be at the Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta, 1730 Northeast Expressway, Atlanta, 30329 (between Clairmont and North Druid Hills Roads on the Southbound I-85 Access Road).
These auditions are primarily to cast for CCOC's upcoming March 7-9, 2014, main stage production of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, at the Conant Performing Arts Center on the campus of Oglethorpe University. However they also may be used to identify singers for the company's monthly dinner programs and other singing opportunities through out the 2014 season.
For this audition singers should prepare two pieces. Both may be in English, but if the singer wishes to be considered for other CCOC opportunities, the second piece should be in another language. Each audition will last 10 minutes. An accompanist will be provided or singers may bring their own accompanist if preferred. There is a $10 fee to cover CCOC's costs. The fee may be paid in cash, by credit card, or with a check made payable to Capitol City Opera Company.
Singers should also note that casting for Capitol City Opera shows will require that they be available for workshops and for extensive rehearsals. Singers with other obligations during the same time period should note them on the registration form. Participation in other organizations does not preclude you from participating in CCOC productions, but availability for rehearsals will be a consideration when selecting the final cast.
Thank you for your interest in CCOC, and good luck!
